VIA ALPINA

Rather long route, but without large differences in altitude, mostly in the Stelvio National Park. The excursion begins at the Stelvio Pass (2757 m) from which the path leads to the Garibaldi Refuge (2845 m), clearly visible from the Pass.

The path reaches Pizzo delle Tre Lingue, not far from the refuge and then descends into Swiss territory following a comfortable military mule track up to the S. Maria yoke (2480 m), Passo Umbrail, where the Italian-Swiss Customs is located.

TA PUM

TA PUM is the sound of the rifle shot that has accompanied, incessantly, the days and nights of many soldiers at the front, recalled and softened in the notes of one of the most famous and poignant songs of the First World War.

On the occasion of the centenary of Italy’s entry into the war, the Ta Pum Association promotes a ‘Walk of Memory‘ in the places, from the Stelvio to the Sea, which were the scenario of the Great War.
